Celadon Home Opens Warehouse at the Navy Yard Owner Steve Lesniak plans showroom for discounted furniture, advocates sustainable goals of Navy Yard business cluster
North Charleston, SC (August 8, 2008) – Celadon Home Furnishings and Accessories, a Mount Pleasant, SC-based home retail firm, has announced the opening of its new warehouse at 2221 Noisette Boulevard, Navy Yard at Noisette.
Lesniak is an enthusiastic supporter of the Noisette redevelopment, and what the Noisette Company, LLC is doing at the Navy Yard, in developing a sustainable business cluster. The store is near the burgeoning Eco-Park at Noisette, which includes growing companies like Southeast Biodiesel, Fisher Recycling, and Coast Microbrewery, which all practice sustainable principles in their respective businesses.
Lesniak is a founding member of the North Carolina-based non-profit advocacy group, Sustainable Furniture Council (www.sustainablefurniturecouncil.org), which promotes environmentally-sensitive practices among manufacturers, retailers, and customers in the furniture industry. “We’re excited about what Noisette is doing at the Navy Yard, in building a sustainable community,” adds Lesniak. “We follow sustainable practices in our industry at Celadon, with green supply side business practices, in addition to the use of a lot of handcrafted wood in retail items, and the application of green products.”
Lesniak says the Celadon Home’s unique furnishing styles – which reflect an eclectic, simple European style – are one-of-a-kind. Celadon Home was founded in 1994, just two years after he came to Charleston from his native England. The firm’s web site, www.celadonathome.com, features a comprehensive line of “Bedding, Casegoods, Dining, Gifts, Lighting, Occasional Tables, Rugs, Upholstery, and Wall Décor.” The site’s firm profile continued, adding, “Today, Celadon is still very much in keeping with Steve’s initial vision. Fun, funky, and with an emphasis on superior customer service, Celadon is a unique store in the Charleston marketplace.”
The Navy Yard at Noisette is a 340-acre, mixed-used sustainable redevelopment, located on the northern end of what was once the Charleston Naval Base. In July 2008, Cottage Living Magazine named the 3,000-acre Noisette Community, which encompasses the Navy Yard, as one of the nation’s “Top 10 neighborhoods”, for its sustainable practices in adaptive reuse of older structures, and urban infill projects.
